When I was in college, I started looking for something. There was an empty feeling, a void in my life. There must be more to life than just studying, working, and raising a family. What was my purpose for living? I tried yoga, transcendental meditation, and other mind expanding, awareness things. I was heavily into sports, so I never tried alcohol or drugs. But they all left me empty.

One weekend when I was home, my fiancée (we have now been married for 32 years) asked me a simple question: “Do you know for sure if you would go heaven?

I didn’t have any church background and I have never really thought about it. I answered no, but how can I know?  She then told me about Jesus, how he died on the cross for my sins, and if I asked Him into my life; then I would be assured of going to heaven.

That was the first time I had heard such a thing and I asked her to help me to know for sure. She then HELPED me to pray for I had no idea how. Then I asked Jesus to forgive me for all the bad and wrong things I had done and to enter my life as God’s Son.

There was no thunder and lightening, no bells or whistles, no fireworks. But I did have a sense of peace and the emptiness was gone. I now know what my purpose in life is.
